The British heavyweight repeated his provocative remarks about wanting to “kill” Jake Paul during a press event in Florida on Wednesday.

The remarks were initially uttered on the previous day when the boxer was questioned if he would hold back against the social media star, responding that “if I can kill you, I'll kill”.

Saturday's contest against the internet personality turned fighter has sparked criticism over the risk involved and the size difference between the two competitors.

Ex- world heavyweight champion The Gypsy King called Anthony Joshua a “disgrace” for his extreme comments.

But Joshua, justified his position: “This is my profession, we fight. We have a license that permits extreme violence.

“I'm sure many people don't grasp it but this is what my job is. I love what I do. Whatever happens, happens - as long as my hand is raised, that's what's important, respectfully.”

He stated, “That's just the mentality we have to have as warriors. I don't know if other fighters think that way. Perhaps they're a bit more tame. The way my mind works. When you're in the ring, it's a dangerous thing. Everything can happen.”

“You pray your adversary exits the ring unharmed, but if they don't, you still have to go to bed knowing you just did your job. It was purely professional.”

Jake Paul's Incendiary Response

Paul, a huge underdog in the fight as a natural cruiserweight, was equally incendiary in his response.

“This is a modern day gladiator sport,” Paul declared. “I'm prepared. I want his most powerful punches. I want there to be no excuses when it's all over. We should kill each other.”

Joshua will face his opponent, in his twenties, at Miami's arena in a fight many consider a major mismatched contest, with some arguing it should have been approved as an non-professional fight.

The professional contest will be fought over eight 3-minute rounds using regular 10oz padded gloves, with a stipulated maximum weight for the former champion.

Joshua Claims He Was “Called In to Save” Boxing

Despite the vulgar language used, Joshua claimed he has been “brought in to rescue” the sport of boxing.

“They want me to stop the Jake Paul phenomenon and I comprehend it and that's why I have to bear the sport on my back in this fight,” he added.

The event also had more humorous exchanges, with Joshua laughing as Paul sang ‘London Bridge Is Falling Down’ to him.

The face-off passed without incident, with the underdog adopting a odd posture before the champion stayed composed and lightly grabbed his chain.

Both Fighters Deny Scripted Claims

The unusual nature of this bout has led to speculation about its legitimacy, including claims that he may be prohibited from scoring a knockout.

“There's nothing in the agreement, Joshua can confirm it. We're going to battle,” Jake Paul insisted.
