Arne Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it was natural for concerns to be raised about his position following a further convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, representing the club's poorest streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a tough night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received a lot of backing from above,” Slot commented.

“It's important to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He added, “I accept my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal discussions I perceive the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them after this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Player Reaction

Slot lamented known weaknesses from his squad in their European loss, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don't need to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a phase such as this with outcomes this poor.”

He stated, “However we still have the crest on our shirts. And until it is removed, we'll continue to fight.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to the top, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the best team in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
