Ex- Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities have announced that a ex- doctor has been charged with carrying out assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.

Details of the Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Prosecutors said the forty-five charges he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
