On the sixth week of the political impasse, congressional members are coming back to Washington to vote on whether to pass a upper chamber proposal that would support public services for the next eight weeks.

Republican leadership voiced optimism the spending plan would pass through the Congressional body, notwithstanding their tight margin. But Democratic leadership pledged to fight it.
