Recent Details Emerge About the Location of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Bodies
New information has come to light concerning the tragic deaths of renowned film director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their Brentwood, Los Angeles residence on Sunday.
The Initial Report
A source indicates quoting a confidential source, a therapist arriving for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after not being able to enter the residence. The therapist then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.
Upon entering the residence, Romy found her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. A companion who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Subsequently, paramedics found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Charges
Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, as well as the charge related to a weapon, said to be a knife. He is now in custody and is ineligible for bail.
Disputed Reports
The person close to the family challenged several initial details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the estate, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that moment.
Additionally pushed back against widely reported suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "worried" about Nick's behavior in the weeks leading up to the incident. The source claimed the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement includes reports of reportedly "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a gathering hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. While the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they maintained that suggestions of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.
Investigation Details
According to law enforcement officials, the coroner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts noted the condition of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the family home. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not received medical clearance and would not be present until no sooner than Wednesday.
