Supporters Demand Detainment of Person Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of the actress are calling for that a individual who breached a barricade and grabbed the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be detained or removed from Singapore.
A widely shared footage reveals the Australian man pushing past photographers and lunging at Grande while the cast walked down a event pathway flanked by onlookers.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately guided the shocked performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being led away of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "let go after being arrested", though legal records revealed that he was due to be present on Friday morning. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.
Record of Disruptions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has disrupted a concert or event. His Instagram account features recordings of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including rushing the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney show in earlier this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers concert in the same location last December.
"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is obviously a punishable act," stated an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user remarked.
Followers Voice Worry Over Grande's Well-being
Numerous supporters criticized Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had revealed dealing with PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the end of her 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" wrote a further message on Instagram.
Several fans also questioned guards at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while others requested digital services to remove Mr Wen's videos.
Response and Event Details
In clips circulating online, Grande looked surprised when she was approached by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.
Grande has not commented on the event, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
Hundreds of attendees had congregated in a sea of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good regional launch in a Singapore venue, including some who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it started.
The film, to be premiered on November 21, is the sequel of a two-film interpretation of the acclaimed stage show Wicked, which centers on the unexpected friendship between two very different characters.
The show itself is a derivative of the 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a champagne pink glittering gown at the gathering while Erivo, who portrays the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were joined by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of last year in the UK, and scored ten Oscar nominations, securing several for outstanding attire and set decoration.
